50P PICTURE COINS
The majority of the 50p coins on this site have been circulated but are in EF condition. These 50p coins have become extremely collectable over the past few years largely because of:
1. Low mintage numbers (eg 'Kew Gardens' is extremely rare and sought after)
2. Their investment potential - Kew Gardens now sells for in excess of £250, and yet the majority of the new 50p coins are still only a few dollars to purchase.
The photographs are of the coins available on this website - most are uncirculated and have previously been in collections. Whilst not every individual coin has been captured, the images represent the quality and design to be expected. Because of their high polish and sheen, the images are hard to photograph and pick up every flaw, fingerprint and blemish that cannot be seen with the naked eye, so please keep in mind that the actual coins are considerably brighter and more vibrant than they may appear here. Some dealers use graphic illustrations to display their 50p coins for this reason, but I prefer to show them as they are and let the customer decide!

ELIZABETH II
Issued to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 25 years on the throne. The obverse features a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II on horseback. She is shown in her Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards uniform. Surrounding this image is the inscription: “ELIZABETH II DG. REG FD 1977.”
On the reverse side of the crown is a decorative coronation insignia. This design was created by renowned sculptor and artist Arnold Machin.
The coronation insignia depicts the ampulla (a vessel for holy oil) and the anointing spoon used in Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. A crown sits atop these symbols, framed by a floral border.
Notably, there is no inscription on the reverse.

ELIZABETH II
The Churchill Crown was minted in 1965 to commemorate the life of Sir Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Churchill, known for leading Britain to victory during World War Two, had a decorated career as an MP and an army officer. For the reverse a portrait of Churchill by the sculptor Oscar Nemon, derived from a profile bust that Nemon had completed in marble for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, was selected as the winning design.
This coin was the first ever UK coin to depict a figure other than a member of the Royal Family, making it unique.
We have purchased a bulk quantity of these wonderful and historic coins, which is why the price is so low! Please buy with confidence and own a piece of British history.
