12 x Aluminium Cleveland Petrol Tokens (1971) - Great Medals series

The Aluminium Cleveland Petrol Tokens from 1971 are part of the ‘Great Medals’ series, which were promotional items produced by Cleveland Petrol, a subsidiary of ESSO. These tokens were designed to resemble various historical medals and were given out as collectibles. The series included 16 different medal designs, and approximately 15 million tokens were issued.

Each token is made of aluminium, weighs about 1.2 grams, and measures around 19mm in diameter. The designs feature significant historical events or figures, such as the China medal of 1842 or the War medals from 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

These tokens are tiny and I have included a photo of a 50p coin to show a comparison. The original set comprised 16 items, so this set is not complete.  The individual tokens are seeling on eBay for approx £7-£10 each, so I am offering them at a considerable discount!
